April and May Plan


Where I'm At:
Last month, I aimed to get at least two pages done of my comic, but unfortunately, I only managed to do one. This is because the page took a lot longer than originally realised, and with all the other commitments I have in and out of school, pages are very hard to complete. This month, I would like to try to get two more pages done, but I think it's more realistic that I will only be able to do one, especially since the project is very quickly drawing to a close.

 Goals for April and May:

- One More Comic Page. The last page took me around two hours, so it will be hard to do more than one this month. I will try to add more details and panels to this page though, to make it look much more effective than the other.

 - Present my Project. My EPQ supervisor has arranged a date to present all of the work we've been doing to an audience of teachers and school governors. Therefore, over the next month and few weeks, I need to develop an effective presentation to show exactly what I've been doing over the past few months.

Comics and Culture: Source Evaluation

I found an academic source by Arthur Berger through Google Scholar named Comics and Culture.  Session Date: 14/12/17 Resource Used: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1111/j.0022-3840.1971.0501_164.x  by Arthur Berger. Brief Summary/Description of Source: Comics and Culture discusses the negative attitude that has been taken towards comics within society, viewing them as a 'lesser' piece of media, and argues against this. What Was I Hoping To Find Out?: I was hoping to understand how attitudes towards comics have changed over time. Brief Summary of What I've Learnt From the Source: I learnt how the popularisation of comics provided entertainment and laughter in bleak times, and how Berger believes they shaped American culture. Reliability of the Source: Due to the fact that this is an academic source from a published book, I think the source is extremely reliable. My Own Comic Ideas: Finalised (Finally)

So, I finally decided on a plot for my comic!  It follows a prophet boy named Scorpio who lives an average life in the city, who somehow manages to become entangled in a war between worlds. I also did some sketches of several main characters, along with this cute pixelated version of Scorpio I created on Piskel  .
